Some nitrous questions.

:D

So i got a nitrous wet kit for my B-day. So far I've got everything setup except wiring the 12v to the fuel/n20 sylenoids and buying an msd window switch. I'm planning to start with a 50 shot and slowly work my way to a 100 when i'm comfortable with it.

My first question is: Do i need a relay for the fuel/n20 sylenoids or can i just use an inline fuse for them? If i can use a fuse what size?

Second question: I'm going to get some new plugs but not sure whether i should get autolite 23's or 24's??? I'm currently running 25's. I have an msd 6al and a blaster 3 coil, should i run a smaller or larger gap now with the n20?

Third question: The kit didn't come with a bracket for the micro switch (WOT) so do i need to buy one or just fab one up or is there another way to mount it? Where are you guys putting the switch at on our cars , by the throttle body or under the gas pedal?

Thanks ahead, I'll have more questions to come so please bear with me.

1: You can use a inline fuse. I believe a 10 amp fuse will get you what you want.
2: For every 100hp shot of juice you want to step down to a colder plug. I use accel u-groove 784's. Also don't forget that for every 50hp shot of juice you need to take 2 degrees of timing out.
3: I run a carb but i have seen guys use the IAC bolt to mount the bracket for WOT micro switch. not under gas thats a bad idea. you could fab up something i'm sure.

Yes you NEED a relay. You are supposed to put an inlien fuse in between the + wire from the relay to the + battery terminal.

Use autolite 24's gapped around .035"

Just rig up a bracket for the microswitch or buy a new one as they're dirt cheap.

Ok so if i need a relay then what kind do i need to buy? Can i get it at autozone or orielly?

I put in 24's and gapped them at .038, is that good?

Here is how I have mine wired.

I feed 12v into an arming switch mounted where my ashtray used to be. From there I go to the WOT microswitch mounted on the TB, and then to my MSD window switch and finally to my relay. I really should get a low FP cut off switch and wire it in as well. The relay actuates both the nitrous and fuel solenoids and only is energized when the arming switch is on, RPM is between 3000-5800 and I am at WOT.

Most of the arming switches and other rocker style switches aren't intended to handle the amperage that the solenoids draw. The switch could fail and not work or even worse the contacts could actually weld closed and end up sparying nitrous into the engine after you run. Relays are cheap, engines aren't.

What type of kit did you get? It truly is alot of fun and somewhat addictive.

Enjoy the new toy.

It's a "Cold Fusion" wet kit.

So all i need is the relay, rpm window switch, fuel safety switch and a microswitch bracket and then i can play with my new toy!

Another question: Is it safe to leave the nitrous bottle in the car during the day? Cause it gets pretty hot down here (90-95* lately) and the inside car temps can and will definatly go above 120*.

I would take it out. I have mine in the trunk of my vert and I take it out unless I am going to the track. Florida is the same way, pretty darn not during the day.

Looks like you should be pretty good to go once you get the stuff you listed.

You'll enjoy it. I went from 14.00s to 12.7s with the 100 shot
