Well i guess its about time ive made a thread about the project car i picked up a few weeks ago.

Heres some info on it - Its an opal frost 94gt with a blown motor and trans, among other small things. This car is getting redone from the ground up with a budget goal of 10k even, including the car (2500). I bought the car off a board member on here bimmertech, great guy i might add. He had already installed the 6 pt and the seats were purchased by him as well as some other parts.

At this point i have the carpet mostly done, 5 pt harness' in, except for the top part which needs a bracket welded to the rollbar. I have the front coil overs in, most of the wiring rerouted, and started on the body work in the engine bay.

Plans for the engine combo are this - Stock shortblock, ported trckflow tw heads(already have these), typhoon intake (have it), single turbo setup(waiting), and an undecided cam at this point - leaning towards an f cam or steeda #19.

Im still debating what way to go with the tranny. I loved the t56 in my 03 cobra so that is without a doubt a strong possibility. I have a friend who lives and breathes ls1's and comes across used t56's often so i may try to get one through him. The other option is the G force rebuild.

I ordered the hot side of the turbo kit from B+G, its a longggg wait, Brian said up to 12 weeks (i ordered it on march 3). Ill be doing the cold side myself and have something a little different planed for it.

Anyways heres a few pics to see where im at. Id like to have this whole thing done by july. Its not much to look at now, but believe me it will be very nice when done

AS you can see from the pics, the person who had the car before bimmertech thought it would be cute to paint a bunch of stuff blue in the car. And its a major PITA to get the paint out of the window switch panel thing. What can i buy that will get the paint off with little effort? Paint thinner does nothing, and painting over it makes the paint crackle for some reason.

Nice purchase, Is that the MM Roll bar, looks like mine except mines powder coated black. Seats are nice also, I had a pair of CR1 seats but the shoulder area kept hiting the swing out bar and rubing on it very bad Ended up selling the seats to Stangnet member -Nobody-. All in all looks like a long road ahead Just try to keep positive, trust me I have been there lol.

Edit: As far as paint remover, Im just going to buy a new set of panels, tried repainting mine but it bubbled up.

Yes its a mm rollbar.

Your right about the rubbing. Ill probably keep them off except when im racing.

Sad thing is had done so much of this stuff to my old 95. Its good to have that experience so this car should go smoothly as theres less thinking involved.

I think i may just buy new panels as well. Any idea who sells them?

Your car looks great BTW.

Nice to see the new project Jesse! This is proving to be quite a fun time on stangnet with all the new projects underway.

As for the panels, I repainted mine after sanding them down really good. If that still doesn't work I'd just look to buy a new set from a JY.

looks good jesse!!!

way better than my non motivated ass would have it by now.

on the T56--i put one in my 95 a month ago and the install will most likely force you to make some concessions.

i had to get rid of my x-pipe for an h. i also will have to cut out the factory crossmember brackets to get the mount in the "correct" position. if you have subframe connectors on you will have to custom weld some brackets. stay tuned as i will have a big thread in the next few weeks detailing the custom brackets/full length sfc's.

if i had to do it over--i would have bought the g force.

I look forward to your thread... The t56 is a great tranny, and that 6th gear is key, but if it is a major pita maybe i will go with the gforce.

Thanks for the link Will.

Paul - yes it is a very exciting time! I look forward to see how all the cars turn out :SNSign:

Kick ass! Can't wait to see it finished, good luck!
What kind of bodywork are you doing in the engine bay? Looks like you started filling in a few holes, you gonna fill in most of them?

Also, last time I checked you could get new door cups from www.50resto.com too.

Sweet! I have pics of nearly the entire process I went through with mine on my website(in sig), and 1105 has a good writeup on here somewhere that I followed. Let me know if you need help with anything in particular...I think I can remember most of what I did.

Since Opal Frost is a kinda rare and awesome color, I vote for leaving it that color. I wouldn't complain tho if you went with an equally(or more) awesome color, like DSG or that Saleen orange color. What did you have in mind?

Nice!

Too bad you sold your Terminator. Why did you sell it? lol if you were getting bored with you, you should have just thrown a TT or a Single Helion Turbo kit in there.

I sold the cobra cause of money. I got tired of having a 26k car that only gets driven 7 months a year, and its only losing value. Not to mention the money in insurance im saving now. Plus im looking to buy an investment property soon so not having all that money tied up in a car helps.

Throwing a turbo kit on it would have been great. But adding another 6-7K to an already expensive car isnt something i could bring myself to do. Plus id be pushing the stock shortblock and built ones arent cheap.
