I just have a some questions.when i was installing the filter for my cai,i saw this bar that had 25lbs on it.What is it and can i take it off?

Another question is that im getting to new tailpipes,so im taking my exhaust off,to save a little money im going to take the exhaust off myself and take it to get the stuff welded together. Is it diffcult to take the catback off and what tools do i need?
Im Also wondering,if i need to drive the car,can i drive without the catback?

thanks
Jesse

Im pretty sure that the bar you saw is just added weight from the fac. I think they call it a dogbone not too sure.
As far as the Cat Back question it shouldnt be too hard as long as everything isnt rusted together. Ive had my exhaust off a lot but the last time I took it off I broke a bolt. All depends.
Youll just wake up the neighbors without you cat back on.

That is the cowl weight, it's supposed to help reduce cowl vibration on verts. Take it off, you don't need it. Pretty much every vert guy takes their's off, I have, and haven't had any problems. The dogbone is the 8lb weight back where the differential is.

It's an aftermarket one? Usually they just bolt together. Either way, taking off a catback is real simple. It will be real loud driving without it, but you should be fine if you're just going to and from the exhaust shop.

Yeah, you can take that weight out. No problems here either.

Second, you can remove the cat back with a good socket set, some penetrating oil, and a hacksaw (or grinder). You will have to cut the tailpipe somewhere around the area of the axle.

3rd, you can run the car w/o a cat back. No problem.
