ive just recently noticed a sort of "pop" comming from around the shifter underneath the car favoring the drivers side (maybe because i can hear out the drivers side window, who knows) and this sound is happening occasionally...50% of the time when im in first accelerating from a stop..whether it be on a hill or flat land (when i say accelerating..i do not mean WOT but normal driving) i always think that im hitting my chin spoiler on the gound...but its not a rub...just a pop...i guess i can say that ive only noticed it when im accelerating while im turning....any idea what this could be? or need more details

btw...i did happen to run over a large in diameter branch a few weeks ago that hit the underneath of my car pretty much under the shifter...im fearing that this is the cause...however this "pop" doesnt seem to be causing any problems for me...car runs fine...dont miss a shift or have it pop out or nothing

Are you sure it's not just the usual driveline backlash these cars are prone to?

hmmmmmmm, how about control arms--are they rubbing anything, like your exhaust tubing?
