My dad and I are going out to get a 94,95 GT.Performence wise we're going to put on equal lenth shorty headers,a cold air intake and replace the mufflers(mufflers only).I want my car loud and throuty but not obnouxisly loud and.But I still want to hear the car during idle, accelaration, and cruising. So can you guys reccoment a muffler?I also want to put a shifter in so what shifters are good ones? And 1 last question if I put a GT40 or edlebrock performer or performer RPM upper/lower intake will i need to port or replace my stock heads?

They complain about drone, but I still love the flowmaster 40 series mufflers!

I like the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter best or maybe the Pro 5.0.

As far as heads go, well you don't HAVE to do anything to them, but if you are going to spend the money on an intake you should at the very least Port and polish the heads as they are a serious bottleneck for these cars! But I understand that budget thing that most of us are on, so it is really up to you!!!

I think the equal length shorty's are a waste of money, especially if you have a stock H-pipe. I would buy a new h-pipe first, then get plain shortys, or else step up to long tubes and a short h-pipe.

The stock headers are small, but they are better than an iron manifold, the biggest restriction of the stock exhaust is the h-pipe.

If you are on a really tight budget and you don't have to worry about smog laws, an offroad h-pipe will be cheap, add power and make your stock exhaust louder.

I saw a stock '03 mach1 exhaust on ebay. It's all stainless and the bid was very low. That and an offroad h could make a killer budget exhaust, if it will fit. I don't know the difference between the 4.6 exhaust and the 5.0, but it can't be that much. I think a muffler shop could make it work pretty easily, but it would be a risk.
