I went to try to fill up tonight and it was acting like the tank was full where the pump automatically shuts off. I know its empty because the guauge says so and i always reset my mileage and im at about 240miles. I tried 3 different pumps at 2 different stations and get the same result.

I put in a fuel pump about 2 weeks ago. I have filled up about 4 times since. I have no idea on what could cause this.

I got the gas can and filled it up and then filled the tank up to a quarter tank and i am guessing this worked because of the lower pressure but i still had to pour it verryyyyy slow. I know there is a flap that only works one way in the filler tube...is it a chance that is stuck?

ANYONE give me any insight before i take the filler tube down tomorrow morning. This is going to be a pain :bang:

HELP :(

Just ease the pump up and down till you find the "sweet" spot.

Ever notice how funny that looks?

Used to happen to me but it just stopped. People always gave me weird looks while doing that, like I was molesting the car or something!

so its the sensor on the pumps? What do you think is causing the gas to go in slowly with the gas can then? I never filled it up with one before so it could be perfectly normal. It just seemed like i couldnlt just turn the can upside down cause it would go in too fast and start coming back out.

No need to tear down the filler tube assembly? Thanks guys...this is a relief

Your problem is your filler neck. I had the same problem. After speculating on the message boards for weeks I finally just dropped the tank and examined the neck only find that the filler neck's flap that's inside the tank was stuck shut. So, I just ripped it out with plyers. No big whoop. Pump still shuts off by itself which is what I was worried about. It seems as though that flap is only to prevent gas from spilling in the event of a roll-over.

So if you're planning on rolling over just replace the filler neck.

hmmm thats what i thought.....

HAHA no not plannin any roll overs any time soon. Thats where i thought the problem was because tonight i tried again to move the pump around in the filler tube to no success. It only goes in at a very slow rate so im thinkin its either completely stuck closed or partially closed. Im glad someone has been here and i know i wont be droppin the tank tomorrow for no reason.

:bang: Droppin the tank twice in one month :bang:

Wish me luck

Thanks for everyones advice!
