so i was at my buddies shop, came out after working on his car to find my passenger side window had been pried out and completely cracked. why do people have to do this to cars?????? :notnice: my question is how hard is it to replace a window? is it something i can do myself. what all does it entail? i can go through my insurrance but i was just wondering.
thanks for listening to my rant

Just make sure you clean out all the little bits and pieces otherwise you'll have a nice rattle noise everytime you close your door. I haven't replaced a window in a fox, but I have replaced windows, just take your time, you might have to tilt and turn the window just right to get it in there.

it is really easy to do, just pull the door panel off, drill out the rivets and pull the window out...putting it back in is a little tougher becasue i cant use a rivet gun worth ****.

i was going to call in the morning and check on my deductible, i have a rivet gun that i used to do my door handles will that rivet gun work for replacing my window? write up anywhere?

yeah it will work..just use the right size rivet..i got a spare door and window in my shed. if you like i can pull it out thursday morning and takea few pics of how the window comes in and out.

i'm in the same boat as you. dec. 23 (my birthday) i came out of the mall to find this:

search the tech section for my thread about replacing windows. there's a bunch of info and tips from the great :SNSign: crowd. i haven't started yet, as i haven't found windows..... but i plan on taking pictures as i go...

It could be worse!! They could have gotten the whole car, don't sweat a window.

i know what you mean, but i'm still sweating mine. i literally just got a hold of my insurance company. my windows are covered, but i have a $500 deductible. So i phoned crystal glass to get a quote, they told me $247 installed for the driver window (not tinted), and $534 for the 1/4 window. add another $100 for a tint job, and i'm sweating. I have to put my tuition on credit cards i'm so broke right now, so an extra grand is a pretty big deal to me. I'm going to have to find a junkyard that has these windows, take them out in -20* weather, and install them in -20* weather in my apt. parking lot.

check a few shops some shops will let you do the work in there with access to there tools for a little bit of money, plus the heat is a big bonus. usually have to do it while there closed.

I cant believe all the a-holes this month, between bloopblob getting his car broken into and then timintex getting graffitied and now yours almost getting broke into. Its a shame there are so many dicks out there :nonono: Makes me scared to take my Stang anywhere.

Sorry to hear this, someone low life did the same to mine on Dec. 15th, but not only to the stang, they hit my harley truck also. If I had caught them and done major damage to them, then I would go to jail. Makes you think that the law is for criminals. Now I have to replace windows and stereos.
