I've had this fish smell, in my '04 GT for a while. I deodorized the carpets, and I don't think the smell is coming from the vents/AC/heater, BUT when I accelerate vigorously, the smell increases, especially with a window open. WTF? Anybody have any clues?
Sincerely, velociamator

a) Are there any modifications to the PCV system under the hood? Any breathers on valve covers, for example?
b) Is the original H-pipe on the car?
c) Have you checked under the car? Perhaps you ran over a five dollar hooker and didn't notice...

You pissed someone off and they likely poured puree'd fish guts in your ventilation system at the base of the windscreen. It's actually a brilliant way to seek revenge... though I think diarrhea would be better for revenge. The purpose being everytime the victim drove his car, he'd think of that ass hole who blasted chit all over his hood, window, and ventilation system.

I knew a girl that pulled the weather stripping back and poured milk into a co-workers doors. It was summertime and she said in about 3 days you could smell the car at quite a distance. lol

O...M....G.... I just found a thermos of milk, corn-holed in the deepest recesses of my daughter's room the other day. Just cracking that open to see what was in it, closed down the living room and kitchen of the house for 45 minutes.

Well, today I had the car parked with the engine off and sniffed everywhere, and smelled nothing. The neighbors were staring, however! Back in the early days of "cats", they would smell like rotten eggs sometimes, but FISH? I don't get it. As to the clutch, it's been replaced four times this year.

hows your heater core? any fogging around the windshield, damp carpets? old coolant can have a slight fishy aroma to it.

Good thought about the heater core--I've been through that with a number of Fords, most notably the '88 & '89 Crown Vic wagons I had, which were a bit of a chore to DIY. Boy, the '56 Fords were easy on that chore! Anyway, I'd expect to see the symptoms you just described, but haven't yet.
