I tested the continuity from the starter motor power cable (while it was unplugged from the solenoid) to the chassis ground and it shows almost no resistance. I may not be a genius but I think this is not supposed to be. Think about it, the power cable to the starter has to be completely isolated from any ground so that all current can flow through the armature of the motor and no other route. If it's showing me that the power cable is grounded, theres something wrong there right? I suspect some type of electrical short in or near my starter motor. Everything else checks out good. Resistance between the POS terminal of the alt and the ground is 1900 ohm which is normal for but a trickle of current @ 12 volts. Resistance between the two starter solenoid terminals is zero which is normal since its normally open etc..
Is my logic correct about my starter motor? Someone analyze this with me.
