What exactly is the difference between and modular motor and a pushrod motor?

I.E. 5.0 VS. 4.6

most obvious difference is the overhead cams in the mod motors.

They're completely different engines, what's the main difference that you would like to know?

5.0L has a 3.0" stroke and 4.0" bore, the 4.6L has a 3.5" bore and stroke. The cam difference's are obvious. The 4.6L uses a completely different intake design. It aslo uses coil packs instead of your standard distributor. Im sure there's a ton more differences, but that's all Im posting for now.

deep skirt block with min. 4bolt mains. early teksid blocks made by the same foundry that made blocks for another F letter auto in Italy. Factory blocks good to 1,200hp

plastic intakes (cept bullit's and cobras)

crappy rods (cept 03-04 cobras)

choice of 2v/4v heads and now 3v.

MUCH better head ports in design over the 5.0 (biggest reason no one really has jumped into the aftermarket head game on these...just porting)

12mile long timing chains

HB's that also the crank pullies

RE-TAR-DED cam prices since you have to buy 2 or 4 of them

Factory forged cranks in all cobras and man. mach1's.

ONE hellova shortblock in the 03+ cobras

Some day I would like to get a 4v...but maybe put it in a 32 3 window with full fenders...or a fox...or just pimp a cobra...but no matter what getting rid of the 94.

I was thinking of doing a 32v and a T56 in a 1964 Fairlane. How bout that for something a little different? Or maybe in a Falcon.

Well, maybe the differences b/w 2 seperate motors was a bad example, I know you can make a 4.6 pushrod motor, but I want to noow what actually makes a pushrod motor a push rod motor, and what makes a modular motor a modular motor. In other words, what are the main differences?

yeah, basically the 5.0 is a pushrod engine (1 cam that pushes pushrods to lift the rockers/valves) and the 4.6 is modular (overhead cam/cams that move the valves)
