Last night after work, I floored it up to 80mph, shifting fast, and everything was fine and usual. Nothing out of the ordinary, no noises or anything. After I slow down, I upshift and start going up a hill and the car starts shaking and has no power...

After a little while, I through it in neutral then put it back into gear, and its was fine. So I drove home and parked it over night.

Today, I drive it to school, and its still shaking and has no power. But its not doing it all the time, on the way to school. After school, it does it the whole way home. When I hit the gas in like 5th gear at 60mph, it will barely go faster even if I hit the gas harder when before it would gain speed fine. The engine shakes violently and is making the O/R H-pipe hit the body.

I go to work then turn the car off and check the dipstick to see if there is any coolant but the oil is clear. So I turn the car back on and I see a dreaded cloud of black smoke from the rear...

I drive it home, still shaking and has no power. I listened to the engine and heard a good amount of valve tap on the passenger side. I stood outside the car and revved it and black smoke came out the rear, mainly the passenger side.

Whats wrong with it? Fuel injectors, valve seals, fuel pump, uneven compression? I'm about to just take it to the shop. Is there anything I could check.

Damn. That doesn't sound too good. Probably what I'd start by doing is removing each plug one at a time to see if any are carboned-up or even damaged. Does the smoke smell of gas like its running really rich? You might want to check the fuel pressure as well. For the ticking, see if maybe you might have blown a header gasket. I've seen weird things happen when one gets blown real bad.

I've experience something similar in the past - car shaking when accelerating with no power. What I discovered was that I had put too much of the K&N oil on my oil fliter after cleaning and reoiling the filter. The oil got on the MAF sensor wire. I cleaned the wire and all was good again. Just a thought

check for spark plug wires arcing it sounds like a tap also mine were doing the same after I went racing the car had no power and it was misfiring and taping untilI lifted the hood and saw tow wires arcing on the header replaced them problem solved. This would also explain the unburned fuel issue as well

I took it to the shop on Tuesday. I told them the problem, also told them I didnt drive the car for 6 days (because of snow and ice) and it had less than 1/4 tank of gas in it. They said hopefully, its just condensation that built up in the gas tank and lines and is now trying to work its way out of the car. They told me to try putting in dry gas and fuel injector cleaner in it and see how that works. Ive been driving with it through about 3/4 tank of gas and it still does it, but its not as bad.

I also discovered that it does not do it all the time. It only does it when I'm at a low speed and high gear (like 45mph in 5th gear). But when I downshift to like 2nd and speed up to 60mph then put it into 5th gear, its fine. But when I let off the gas for awhile then hit the gas again, still in 5th gear, it will start shaking and loss of power.

Tomorrow I'll run through a list of things that you all have suggested and also the Haynes manual. If all else fails, its going back to the shop.

I also noticed, my fuel pump isnt making its usual whining noise. Before it would make a slight whining, but now, I don't hear it at all. It wasnt loud before either like it was obviously going bad. I believe its a 255lph fuel pump (for when it was supercharged).

well i say check your maf....i took apart all my stock air intake to get ready for my aftermarket so the maf is assembled but there are no tubing hooked up...it has been apart for awhile now and its cold so i try to start the car once a week so i hopped in and turned the key to run for a quick second...and as soon as it turned over it shook horrible and i decided i woulod just wait till all the parts get here to start it again.

and on my 93 when its dirty it will idle fun you go to rev it and it bogs down and bucks funny and runs like poo....i say take it out clean it really good re-install it and see if the problem is still there

I had cleaned the MAF and it didn't do anything. Also checked the plug wires and they were all secured. I didn't have a continuity tester with me.

Well the car is in the shop now. They said cylinder 5 wasn't even firing, there was something blocking the PCV line, and they are finding more and more wrong with the car.

They were expecting it to be done today but said they are looking at more serious problems now. They told my mom that and she doesn't know what they are talking about so I'll have to try and give them a call today.

Yeah, my mom really wants me to get a new car.
