When I am letting my clutch out in the first 6-8 inches of movement nothing happens. You have to let it out so far untill it starts gripping. The clutch is fairly new and a heavier one than stock. Is this normal? What could be wrong? Thanks.

i don't think anything is wrong. My clutch is the hardest mofo i've ever used (i think my leg is developing a problem from sitting in traffic with this for an hour twice a day)

anyways, my clutch doesn't start to grip until about halfway of release HOWEVER, it must be all the way in to pop into first gear. something to get used to i guess

BTW: u suck! ok, jk, im being jealous- you and 1105 have cool paint jobs, i've always wanted stripes but white on black would probably look like a skunk

lol, thanks for the help. I guess I'm just not used to it yet since most cars I've driven start to go right when you start letting out the clutch.

well with my old clutch cable (that ended up snapping) i could release about 2" off of the floor. it was great. then i got a stock replacement cable and its so tight that it releases right up near the top. kinda sucks cause i like it when its lower but the cable is so tight that i can only hope it loosens up over time. plus its super hard to push down but im used it now. i have a spec 2 clutch

if you're going to get a new cable, i'd go with the adjustable one and i think you have to get a firewall adapter/adjuster too, can't remember right now. i've only heard bad things about the stock cable and know first hand that it's reaaallllly hard. I've been thinking about getting a new one, aside from all the other stuff i want

u can search for another thread that tells which cable to get, there's a couple good threads on it

on my 5-speed, my clutch was the stiffest mofo ever, i swear i stopped cruising for a long time. after i had to rebuild my tranny, i got the King Cobra and left the same cable. when i picked it up from the shop, it was much softer but the gear wouldn't go in till almost the bottom, then i took it to another mechanic and he just layed under the steering wheel and messed with it and picked it up with no problems. the stiffness might be the clutch but about it being too low, that might be the cable adjustments.
