son of bottomlesspit

some of you, well maybe most of you, remember bottomlesspit, the one with the 1993 mustang convertible w/ white top and white leather. if not then you may remember him as the creator of "the longest thread in the known universe" about surge demon or maybe you just knew him as Ken. if you remember him, then you know how he regretably sold it a few years back. well as you have probably guessed, i am his 16, almost 17, year old son and i am taking over where he left off. my dad recently bought me a 1992 5.0 mustang GT hatchback that ive had my eye on since last christmas. its practically my dream car. its in pretty good condition, you know how it is with previous owners who dont respect mustangs but it still runs great. we're starting to get the essential things down so its "street legal", like maybe a rear view mirror or fixing the broken speedometer. well anyways, my dad misses the ones he used to talk to all the time here and wishes he had a mustang so he could come back again. hes now almost beating himself up over why he got rid of his mustang, but its all good as long as theres a mustang in the family right? well, expect many questions in the future from me and hope you will help me as much as you did my dad. thanks.

There are many people on here who will be more than willing to help you with anything you need. I remember your father, although I didnt realize he ever sold the beast. Anyway, your off on the wrong foot. This should have been in the talk section. Anyway, cant wait to see pics of your car! Show it!! Also, welcome to one of the friendliest sites on the net. :D

Your dad's name isnt Ken is it?

Good luck with the new ride. If I am thinking of the right guy, your dad had a nice combo. :nice:

yes, by the way my dads name is Ken
Good to have you here :nice:

Say hello to Ken for all of us old timers. We all wanted to be the guy who fixed the surge problem for "Bottomlesspit". It would have been a feather in the cap for the guy how succeeded, instant fame & admiration. Unfortunately, none of us did.

The Sticky "Help me create the Surging Idle Checklist" at the top of the forum is my effort for exorcize the "Surge Demon" for a lot of other people that have had idle surge problems. Day by day, we are all learning new ways to fix these old cars and make them run better than new.

Hey to all the "old timers" . I've hung around here a time or two, but without a mustang, times are hard you know! It just brings back too many memories for my old bones. Hard to believe my current ride is a 99 Expedition. Sheesh, I never thought....................
At least it pulls my Baja boat!!! Yeah, puppy eyes from my son was all it took...we "needed" another stang to work on together. This is his car. I'm saving my pennies for another project later. We also bought our daughter a 04 Mustang last fall.... she's a little peeved because it's V-6 :rlaugh:
Good to see some familiar names here.
I appreciate all the help for my son. He's a fast learner and loves the car. I just can't remember everything, but it's coming back fast!
Ken

i remember ken and the surge demon....ive been wondering what ever happened to him its strange i see this post :D from what i remember i figured he probably sold it because he probably rebuilt it from the ground up and it still wasnt running right...thats probably what i would have done in his place....

he needs to get himself another 5.0 and banquish those bad memories!

anyone remember just how long that post ended up being? i would like to see the last few posts of it for the heck of it...i posted quite a few times in it

OK guys, I'm glad somebody remembers me. It's kind of like the forgotten heros of past wars...great deeds then everyone dissappears and it's like you never existed. I should have written a book about the surge demon since we all tried about every trick, experiment, part changeout, etc...known to man.
Alas, it was not to be. I sold the car to a finance manager of a local car dealership. He ended up taking it to Houston, Tx where he still has it. He called me last year to let me know he takes no credit for all the work put into it, just enjoys having it around for people to google over. He said it even passed emmissions testing!?!
Hindsight...I should be drawn and quartered for letting the car go...demon or no demon. Just the list of mods I had in it was mind boggling. The main problem was my frustration with the constant bucking, let alone the 100+ heat in my garage everyday working on it. My bad back also played a part.....still, I regret my decision. I should have bought a Yugo and kept the car!
My son is doing great work on his new 92GT My wife said he is "just like you" always in the garage now. I appreciate any help you all give him. I'm amazed at the work he has already done...with no help from me. Well...actually my checkbook has a little to do with it!
No...the demon was never erased from the car...
I will build me another one!
Got to help my son get his all working great first.
Now, have to quit hijacking his thread here in "Tech" section!!!
Also, as for some of the folks here being around "for 10 yrs"....you guys remember when this site dumped a lot of us when it did a reformat or something? I lost a little over a year for my join date. Some of you old folks might have lost more than that?
Stang greeting to all my old friends out there, I haven't forgot you guys. :OT:
