i just got off the phone w/ a mechanic & he was saying that no cats vs hi flow cats isnt that much of a sound difference...
i might just go w/ the bassani 5 piece in a few weeks so i can have no cats or hi flows at the same time...

hmm...well i have it pretty much narrowed down to a bassani 5-piece w/ o/r pipes or catted, magnaflow o/r x or catted...
which of the four would be the best bet? and loudness is not an issue...i highly promote it!

The Bassani O/R pipes give you a real loud raspy sound on the other hand the one with cats reduces the raspyness and tones it down a bit, but loud none the less and gives the X-pipe and a real nice tone but go with the 5 piece set from bassani and just leave on which ever set of interchangable pipes you like i have both but got the catted ones on.

WOW $650 i installed the X-pipe myself it was easy altough getting to the O2 sensors before the cat are a little difficult it was pretty easy you should look somwhere else or just do it your self if you want

That's not too bad if it's all-inclusive with all the interchangeable pieces.

thats for EVERYTHING...and he said he would send the cats or pipes (whichever i prefer on it) home w/ me...i think he even said he would let me listen to it w/ the hi flow cats on and off and let me choose which id rather have on...b/c w/ tax i think the bassani is like 550...so 100 bucks labor...
i also asked him about the magnaflow and he said it would around the same price...but im getting the impression stangnet ppl arent big fans of their x...and the mechanic said hed rather go bassani too b/c theyd sound about the same

just set aside a sat and do it yourself. see if you can get a friend to help (for the extra set of hands). its really not all that hard. i did my h-pipe and cat back twice. just make sure your not in a rush and have all the tools you need. not sure if you will need mil's or 02 extd's for a bassani... just something to think about. good luck.

ohh and i would go with out cats as long as your state will alow it or the cops dont care....

yeah...thats another reason why i wanna get the 5 piece bassani so i could put the cats back on if i ever needed to for legal reasons...+1 that they are hi flow cats

on the install tip...i would say im a pretty handy guy when it comes to electronics...is everything on an x pipe bolt on or is there any welding involved? and also i dont have a lift or anything to get underneath my car so yeah...and also what all tools would you need for an install?
i wouldnt mind saving a good 100 bucks from an install! thatd help get that 5% tint that i want too...
and i have the predator and i think you can turn off the mil light, but not sure about the 02s

Well the tool's i usedcan't remember but the sockets where from 13mm-16mm and wrenches also the same sizes the wrench to remove the O2 is a 22mm, a 3/8 drive ratchet some extensions and swivel 3/8 drive too just trying to remember of the top of my head. I did it with the car on Jack stands on you do need a helper.

There is a pretty big difference in sound...at least to my ears. I think the cats give it a much cleaner, controlled sound, but still gives it that aggressive sound.

My vote for Magnaflow catted X. Not sure which people arent fans of X pipes in here but mine sounds great with 2 chamber flows. Plus you dont have that raspy popping decel sound like you get with o/r's

about time i hear some advice on some magnaflows...but its actually a little cheaper to go w/ the bassani so if there isnt a unique sound difference ill probably go w/ the bassani

In order to be loud, you have to move! That's the way I think of it now. Stick with cats until it's heavly modded.
