hey guys. I was wondering what you all have put in your stangs as far as sound systems go. I have been trying to find places to put speaker. I got the kicker panel and dash. Does anyone have any more suggestions as to where i could put some more. BTW the car is a convertible.. so no rear speakers and limited trunk space.
thx

Try headrest speakers. I'm thinking about this for my 66 fastback. The first link is for a Miata install but the information is still good.

Don't know what year you're talking about but my 67 has a space in the doors for optional speakers. You could hack up those interior quarter panel pieces or just throw a sub in the back and go with dash, kick panel, door.

Id put some in your doors. You can get a pretty powerful 8 inch sub that wouldnt take up much trunk room, depending on how much money your willing to spend. You could also go to a customizing shop or just some car audio place and have them give you ideas on where to put speakers. If you wanted you could put subs under your seats or something like that. I want to put a sound system in mine but i dont have the money right now. I have a fastback and want to put in kick panel speakers, door speakers, dash speaker, and a couple of 8 inch subs in the place of the trap door behind the back seat. How do the kick panel speakers sound and how easy were they to instal? Your system isnt too base heavy is it?

I've got 6.5" components in custom made kicks with 120 watts each from an amp, alpine HU powering some rear fill in the back tray, 400 watt amp powering a ED 12" sub in 1 cubic foot sealed box. Sounds pretty awesome...

You can buy kick panels with speaker baffles in them. However you cannot get a deep speaker.

All you need is some components or quality 6.5" speakers in the kicks, some rear fill in the back, and sub in the trunk.

i have a little box, with 6.5's in it i think that i got from walmart for 15 bucks that fits perfectly between the driver and passanger seat and it sounds really good, if your not looking for high bass performance, and i was able to fix tweeters to the roof of the car on both sides of the car, but i have no headliner at the moment....i get my bass from 2 10's, (checkers $50) that sits right up aginst my back seat in the trunk, and i have roadmasters 6x9's above the back seat, and for no amp it sounds good, it sounds clear as long as i dont have it up so the people 2 blocks over can hear it, even then its perty clear, just get out with your ears ringing (not recomended)

Those speakers were shallow enough to mount in the top of your car? Do you have any pics?

I am going the personal custom route myself. I build a set of kick panels and fiberglassed them to hold 6.5 out andmore dicrectional to the people in the car. built a custom package tray for 6X9 in the back. and dropping 2 10" in the trunk. going all alpine for head unit amps and internal speakers, and kicker for the woofers. I can fit it all and the amps and still get a spare inside.

The speaker-ready kickpanels will NOT, in stock form, handle very good (large-magnet) speakers. However... they are REALLY easy to modify. A little spacer ring of wood and some fiberglass, you're good to go. My friend managed to get MBQuart PCEs in there.

For rears... on a vert, I dunno what to tell you.

Subs though... same friend... we had 3 MTX 10s in his trunk. That was fun. Took the whole freaking trunk, but it was fun.

I have worked for a few audio companies and donrt belive in all the "big name" brands.I learned they all come from the same manufacturer, but most poeple wont belive that.I have 6.5" in the kick panels,2 4" mids in the doors,2 10" Kicker L5's in a fiberglass that I made for the back seat are since im not a chaufer, all 4 GA. cable,1 800 watt amp for bass,1 800 for mids/highs,and 2 farad capacitor.I did the whole install and mounted the amps in the trunk under plexi with neons for the halibut.
