Spacer needed for tall ford racing valve covers?

I am planning on running tall ford racing valve covers. I have done a foxbody cobra intake conversion. I know i will need a spacer. do i need a 1 inch or a 3/8 inch and the big question is how much can i fit under a stock hood? if this all wont fit, its gonna scrap my plan. any help is appreciated?

WHen I did my H/C/I swap on my 95 cobra I did the tall valve covers. First I bought the 1 inch spacer. Turns out it hit where the egr connects on the 95 intake elbow. So a fox set up should help this. I wound up buying another 3/8 spacer and stacked them in order for my KB to clear good. Stock hood will not fit. Not sure about with just and 1 inch spacer, if the hood will fit. Cowls look better anyway!:D

They'll also hit the alternator I believe, but you can just grind away in that area.

My Performer intake rubs the hood blanket pretty good with a 3/8" spacer. The TPS sensor also digs into the hood. But I think your Cobra sits a little lower than the Performer.

I had to run a 1 inch spacer with my GT40 and the pcv hose is sitting right on top of the valve cover. With the 1 inch spacer, I also had to put a spacer behind the fuel rail so that the fuel regulator fit and with doing that, the cruise control cable did not want to fit, so I used a 3/4 inch egr delete plate and still had to space out the throttle cable bracket :bang: which also rest on top of the valve cover. Other than that, they fit perfect LOL.

The throttle cable bracket will hit the tall VCs without a spacer. Ford claims the tall VCs need a 1" spacer, and you may have clearance issues with the alternator. A couple of people I know with those VCs on SNs had to do a little grinding near the alternator on the VCs for proper clearance.

My performer rubs with NO spacer:(
