I was changing my plugs and I ran into a little hitch. I started on the drivers side, starting at the front (closest to the front of the car) and I got to the third one and I was putting the COP back on I put the bolt back in and I guess it went in cross threaded but I can't get it out either. So I decide to move on and come back to it. So I am on the last one on that side and I can't even get the bolt on the COP out. It is a 7mm socket and it isn't the socket because I tried some other ones that I already did and it worked still. I also tried a 6.5mm on the ones giving me problems and that was a no go. Any tips?

I don't HAVE to have the car back up until Thursday, but I would like to drive it because the weather is FINALLY nice.

Thanks in advance for anyone that has any tips!

we work on our local sheriffs departments cars which are all 98-2006 4.6l. What usually happens is there is a brass bushing thats pressed into the plastic intake manifold. the brass bushing has ridges around it kinda like a quarter or a dime only more aggressive. those are "supposed" to keep it from twisting around in the plastic, it sometimes fails. im assuming what happened is when you got the bolt cross threaded which is easy to do, it bound up and you kept spinning and stirpped it out . now what you have gotta do is get that bushing and bolt out, tap it, and the get some good glue, we like to use a dab of jb weld and put it back in carefully. then dont tighten very much at all or it will do the same thing, this is the best knowledge i can give you if thats the problem. hope this helps

What good would that do and what are you going to do next time you have to pull your plugs?

he has one coil that is not bolted down. He might end up with a misfire someday because of the coil vibrating or the boot loosing contact with the plug.

So, I finally got all the plugs changed and all the bolts back in but one. I will need to tap the hole and get a new bolt. Does anyone know what size bolt and tap I will need? Will it be ok to drive with the coil pack not bolted down until I get a bolt and tap?

My old plugs were @ .042-.044 (What could smaller gap cause if anything?)

Ran like a champ though. They look like they may have been changed in the last few months. They look almost new.

Anyone know if it will be ok to drive around on it for a few days? I wanna go out and start looking for a replacement bolt and get a tap to get everything, but I don't wanna screw something up either.
