Spark Plug Questions on a 69 302

Ok, this is going to seem like a dumb question to some of you. I have a 69 Coupe w/ a old 302 (about 90K miles all original) the question is this, I notice the plugs are at an angle not going straight in like a lot of other 302's I have seen, a chcvy guy told me that the angle plugs are for high performance motors. Is that true or do a lot of old mustangs have angled plugs?
