This is one case where Im not too upset even though he performed a sacreligious act by putting a GM product in a Mustang and shall henceforth be doomed to burn in hell for his sins...
It was a aeronose coupe 4 banger. Nothing too special about it, at least he did not cut up a four eyed Stang and he did put a nice motor in it, even if it was a evil motor from the evil enemy.
But swapping the US 2.3L drivetrain for the Buick GN drivetrain dropped 800lbs? Thats seems a bit high.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me lose sleep at night and wish the car on someone who would treasure it and take care of it.
I dont understand the mentality of taking a collectors item like a 65 Mustang fastback and destroying it by doing a engine swap like that.
At least with the Fox body coupe at top its not a collectors item and is not likely to be anytime soon.
I was just talking to people on another forum about how few classic Mustang fastbacks are left that havent been wrecked, sent to the junkyard, converted to Eleanors and fake Shelby's, and had engine swaps and such.
Im sorry but that just makes me sick.

There are plenty of people out their preserving the mustang heritage. Many hobbyists are performing concours restorations and bringing fastbacks back to life all the time.
Also, what is wrong with modifying a fastback with a DNR order that was barely hanging on via life support?
Restoration purists may want all mustangs restored to factory original, but I never see them starting with a rusted hulk of a 6 cyl that will require thousands of dollars more to restore than the car will ever be worth.
From my point of view, collectable early stangs should be lovingly restored and maintained, the rest are fair game for whatever the owner wishes.

The sight of this may in fact "make you sick" or cause you to "lose sleep at night", maybe not. I started with a car that everyone else had turned their backs on long, long ago, and I have no regrets.

Actually I have been following the SN65 project from the thread in corner carvers.com. Amazing work.
I do like the car and Im not upset that the fastback is grafted to a SN95 floorpan, I see a Mustang fastback being reborn with modern suspension and engine.
I was not upset and actually liked when I watched American Hot Rodder and they built the modified 65 Mustang fastback. Wasnt my first choice of color but oh well.
I myself would love to get another 67 Mustang fastback and build a fake GT350.
There are a limited number of Mustang fastbacks left and when those are gone thats it, there wont be any more.

at least they did not put ford emblems on the valve covers like i seen on a 32 ford coupe with a 350 in it, now that i sickning
