Speaker sizes

I was wondering if anyone knew the TRUE speaker dimmentions/sized for a 94-98 mustang. I searched around and ended up with 2 answers, 6x8 everywhereor 5x7 everywhere.

5x7 and 6x8 are the same. The 5x7 is a plate speaker that would mount exactly the same way a 6x8 would. But most likely your stocks are 6x8's. 5x7's perform just as good as 6x8's, if you're wondering.

Oh ok, good to know. So basically they are different sizes but both will fit on it? Also are they all the same, as in front speakers and rear speakers? Thought maybe rear ones where larger.

They are the same front and back, though the screening makes the back ones look like woofers. If you're going to buy new door and panel units, make sure they will fit properly (depth, space,etc.) Some speakers may not fit properly if they are too wide in the back. But most speakers have enough clearance to make it. If you haven't looked at Crutchfield on the internet, they are very resourceful and will suggest the best system for your ride. I couldn't be happier with the setup they made for my car.
