I just installed two Infinity 6x8's in the doors of my 96 with the Mach system. I had previously replaced the head unit with a Sony Xplod piece. The speakers work at low volume levels but as soon as I turn it up or bass hits they cut out. Any ideas on what would be causing this?

It's not a loose connection, I'm sure of that. You wouldn't think the amps for the Mach system would be cutting out for some reason would you?

Well Ford is known for using speakers with abnormal "ohms".Did the stock speakers cut out???If not, maybe the speakers you put in(4 ohm) are too low for the amp???

Nope the old ones didn't cut out. Is there a way to bypass the amp without having to run new wiring?

mach system works on 6 or 8 ohm....your aftermarket speakers are putting more of a strain on the mach amps....

nope, the head unit isnt a powered unit so it not going to be able to power any speakers.

I don't have the factory head unit anymore. I replaced that a while back. Am I just going to have to run new wiring from my Sony head unit to the speakers?
