Spec I clutch..anybody used???

Pulled the trans out of the Notch today..it needs synchros, while I'm in there I took the bell housing off too. I will do a clutch job also.

I have used a Center Force DF clutch in my Procharged 95 GT, and I have one right now in my 96 Cobra, with the Vortech. Both cars had excellent manners, but I don't want to spend the money on another because my Notch is 100% stock. I will do minor mods later, so I want a better clutch than a stock replacement.

Anybody used a SPEC Stage I??? It is 100 dollars cheaper than the Centerforce, and it comes with the TO bearing Pilot bearing, clutch align tool, and even new pressure plate bolts.

I even thought of the FMS King Cobra kit as a local performance place around here has one, but I heard those have a stiff pedal, which I DO NOT WANT..any info will be appreciated.

i dont realy like centerforce but i know spec and king cobra are gooooood clutches! get one of both!

That sounds good. Stage I should work for me. Stage II might bee OK too, but it is still 300 bucks...can't do it for this old car...its nice yes, but stock.

the spec stage 1 is nice and isnt that bad for a stock car the stage 2 is just as nice. But you can tell some taking off that it doesnt want to slip as much but it still is just as pedal friendly as the stage 1 but they are both good clutches.

I have a Spec Stage 1. Put it in a year ago. Same reason $$$. Works great! I would go with it

Thats what I wanted to hear thanks you guys!!

Anybody know why the King Cobra kit wants you to use new dowel pins and pressure plate bolts for their kit?? In the picture in the FMS catalog they look the same size as the stockers?? They say it will help with proper alignment, but I don't see how it can be off.

I have a SPEC stage 1 in my coupe, and while I like it, the clutch is stiff as hell. Stiffer than a 95 Cobra R with a King Cobra. Stiffest clutch in my family.

I have a spec stage 1 and it's fantastic, couldn't be happier

save yourself a headache and go buy the FRPP throwout bearing. unless spec fixed the problem, the one that comes with the kit is junk

I just order the Spec Stage 1 from Central Florida Motorsports, 180 bucks plus 20 shipping is what drew me in, they also say it handles 410 lbs/torque so that is well sufficient for me. (I also got a Fidanza aluminum flywheel from ebay)

Hey sirr0bin, where might I be able to buy the FRPP TOB?

I've had my Spec Stage 1 for about a year and it's be a bit slip proned with my combo, especially on warmer days when my tires are stickier (275 Kumho MX's). Additional weight in the back (passengers) will also make it slip. But, it holds most of the time and has been a good clutch for the money. A friend of mine has a dual friction Centerforce in his open track Fox and his clutch pedal was much lighter than mine. Next clutch replacement I'm opting for the Centerforce.
