People on the net advised me to buy the Ford OEM throw-out bearing instead of using the TOB in the Spec kit. I was told the TOB in the kit is plastic (??) and it'll eventually break. I'm confused since the TOB in the kit that I received is not plastic.....

I've always read the same. Not sure why, though.

Coudn't tell you anything other than I have a stage 2 Spec clutch & alum flywheel on my 99GT. Has 48k miles on it with the SPEC tb, MANY hours in open track in those miles and no problem. My TB was not plastic either.
