They have a little check valve in them so they shutoff when the fluid pressure gets to zero. First, you connect a length of tubing (into a collection bottle, open the SpeedBleeder about 1/4 of a turn, pump the brakes, and then go watch the fluid flow. Top up the master cylinder and when the fluid is free of bubbles and nice and clean, you close the SpeedBleeder. It makes bleeding your brakes a one-man job. Or, if you have a buddy help, the job goes that much quicker and brake fluid doesn't ooze all over the place. Good product, imho.
