i'm swapping to 3.73's in my AODE equipped '95...i'm not doing the swap right away so i'm wondering what you all think about getting a speedo gear for my trans or ordering a Dallas Mustang Speed Cal??? is it worth the money to get the speed cal? or should i just save my money and buy the speedo gear? btw, if anyone can think of any other parts i should pick up while i'm at it feel free to post! (i'm already planning on a bottle of friction modifier and one of the trak lok rebuild kits just in case anything is questionable in there) thanks everyone...

i dont know if can go with only the gears. with the 5 spd cars, you can change the drive gear as well as the driven gear on the cable.
on the autos you can only change the driven gear. 3.73 mihgt be border line for doing that way.

I'm planning to do the same swap on my 94 GT this winter too. So I've started doing some looking.

I'm planning on going with the Speed Cal, since the speedo gear alone will probably leave your speedo (and odo) off a bit (~5%).

You might want to pick up a rear end master bearing kit. 50Resto.com has a kit that seems to include all the internal wear and tear stuff that you probably ought to do while you are in there. They also have a traction lock rebuild kit with the friction modifier too.

A carrier cross pin and bolt are REALLY cheap, so why not swap those out too. Same for rear end housing cover bolts. And don't forget some quality gear lube .

I also have a pinion set up tool, dial indicator and stand on my list (Jeggs). But if you are having someone else do the install you won't need these.

If you do plan on doing it yourself, here are a few helpful other helpful topics. Be sure to check the links in these threads, a few are really good.

and dont forget that traction lock rearends require the use of locker specific gear oil or the use of the locker additave with the standerd gear oil.

makes a big difference
