I'm going to make an adapter to use a late model cable with the early speedometer as the conversion cables I see for this purpose are TOO expensive and would not be available in the middle of nowhere. I like to build my cars with parts I can source just about anywhere so roadtrips don't become catastrophic events.

Get a cable for an automatic. The cables for the 3-4 speed cars were on the other side. Then just go down to a Ford dealership and get a driven gear for the end. You might be able to even use teh driven gear for the automatic. I cant remember its been so long ago.

Sorry guys, I had a brain fart earlier. You can use the stock cable from your C4 n the T-5. When I talked about making an adapter it was because I am using EFI and the VSS in the tranny so I need a totally different cable than most are looking for.

I sure as heck like mine. I have a set of 4.30 gears and i cruz at 70mph at only 2400 rpm.

the part that sucks is that none of my power is down that low so it has a hard time pulling its own weight at that rpm. My power hit is about 3200 rpm.

I put in a t5 and a 9" with 3.89's last fall and I finally am able to drive it now and WOW what a difference. Definately alot more fun to drive. Oh yeah, I previously had a 3 speed and 2.79 open rear. Well worth it and I even get a little better gas mileage if I keep off the throttle.
