Hey guys i just had a real quick question. I got my 4.10's installed but didn't get the speedo calibrated. Is there a way i can do it myself with a tuner? if yes which one would i need?? btw its a 02 gt 5 speed

If 4.10's are the only thing you need calibrated for then I'd suggest a speedcal. Much much cheaper than a handheld tuner if you don't hjave a bunch of mods and don't want to bother with having to deal with a shop.

Speed cals don't work on auto trans from 99 and up. At least I think its 99 and up. Just a warning in case you don't have a manual trans.

At least thats what everyone has told me. I have an automatic V6 and I put an 8.8 in with 3.55:1 gears and my spedo has been off ever since. I'm not going to buy a tuner just to correct that, it costs WAY too much. I looked into a speed cal but I was told it couldn't be used with my auto trans be several sources.

Looked it up:

Note: The Dallas Mustang Speedcal will only work with 1994-2004 manual transmissions and 1994-1998 automatic transmissions. This gear kit is for the 8.8" Ford Rear End.

Nope, mines a 5 speed. I've had a speedcal in my car for at least 2 years and it's worked great. And yes, it won't work with an automatic. I made sure that the OP had said he had a 5 speed before recommending it.

You are going to ruin your tranny if you don't get the speedo calibrated, and I'm too tired to explain why, but this only applies to those with automatics, just talk to a reputable tuner.

First time I've ever heard that from anyone. I'd love an explenation when you are not tired :-)

It has to do with the automatic transmissions shift points and the computer misreading them.
I read an article in MM&FF awhile ago, I will see if I can find it, but thats gonna be dificult because I have about 100 issues lying around.

Speedcal is the least expensive way to do it. Going with a Diablo Predator or SCT XCAl 2 gives you more for your money. These hand held tuners give you fuel and timing curve changes also. These can potentially give you performance gain with proper usage.

I used a Speedcal for 2 years and it worked flawlessly. I recently pulled it out when I upgraded with the S/C and SCT tuner. It's setting on the shelf. Make me an offer. Everything included except for the hot wire tap (Crimp on)

Woops...it is for 99-04.....
