 ruin your car how? You can change the tail shaft gear to make it more accurate,or you can buy a speedcal and be pretty much dead on.

What would make it more off than the other would? As far as I know it should read about the same.

Steeda sells them.

i just go to my local ford dealership to get any steeda parts. steeda.com has them too. 15 bucks i believe. dont pay the guy for the labor on that gear. youll be kicking yourself in the ass when you figure out how easy it is to do it

Yeah, it literally took under 2 minutes to remove/install the speedo gear once the car was jacked up.

You won't find the 23 tooth speedo at a speedo shop. You have to go to Ford or Chrysler. They will tell you that they only sell up to 21 tooth speedo gears (in the ford section). Then tell them you are doing a gear swap. They will look in the gear swap section, and find the right speedo gear. It's actually a Chrysler part, so you might as well get it there. Ford buys it from Chrysler. It's $18 from Ford.

BTW, the speedo gear is the "smaller" gear. They might ask you that. It's pretty small.

Or, if you have time, you can get it from www.50resto.com for $10.

23 tooth speedo gear will get you accurate to 3.55 gears, unless you also feel like tearing into the transmission to change the drive gear. it may be more expensive, but if you want it to be 100% accurate, get a speed cal
