OK guy i put a new trans in dorm D and D, and after my speedometer seems to be off by like 5 mphs. Is it the speedo gear causing my problem. i noticed the new trans was a tremic.. how many teeth does the stock speedo gear come with in the 1994-1995 t5's....??? thanks people

Tremec bought the transmission division from Borg Warner sometime in the late 90's, so that's why the case says Tremec on it. How many teeth are on the driven gear inside the transmission? D&D may have sold you a transmission with a different tooth count than the factory 8 tooth drive gear. Give this thread a look, it's got some good info: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=646803

Alright, I'm assuming you got another T5, right? Give D&D a call and ask them what speedometer drive gear they installed in your transmission. From the factory, it would have had an 8 tooth gear, but they may have installed a 7 tooth gear, which would throw your speedometer off. Just an example:

Say you have stock 2.73 gears. From the factory you'd have an 8 tooth gear in the trans and the yellow 18 tooth gear on the speed sensor to calibrate the speedometer. If they installed the 7 tooth gear in the transmission, you'll need the maroon 16 tooth gear to get you back to the same place. With the 18 tooth gear on the speed sensor, you'd be calibrating the speedometer for a 3.08 gear with the 7 tooth gear.

It's pretty easy to figure out, but you need to know which gear is installed in the transmission in order to figure out what gear you need on the speed sensor. If they installed the wrong gear, I'd ask them to send me the correct gear at their cost, to correct the speedometer. It's their fault they're not installing the factory part in the transmission and screwing up your speedometer, right?
