brand new speedo cable and it still dosnt work guy at the shop told me that gear inside the transmission was missing... said the trans needs to be taken part to fix it...any one know what this gear is called and where i can get it?
yea right nwo the car is pieces im doing the heater core, typhoon intake, headers and a 3g all at the same time.... its not the little colored gear is it?
the different coloured gears are the ones that you put on the end of the speedo cable the one inside the tranny is yellow, I can't imagine that he gear is stripped, it probably just came lose and moved. If you look in the tranny where the cable plugs in you should see the yellow gear on the output shaft. If it isn't there then I would bet the retaining clip came lose and it moved down the shaft. All you would have to do is take the top cover and tail stalk of the tranny off and the gear slides on and of the end of the output shaft and it is held in place by a clip
Yeah the tranny will have to be pulled and drained to fix it. But I would look down the speedo gear hole first to see if the gear is there, if it's not then you pull the tranny.
he was telling me that i can just take off the back half and not have to take the whole thing out....is that true, if the whole thing has to come down then im leaving it
you cant just take the back half off, you have to press out the pin off the block where the shifter sits on, then you have to take off the top cover, even if you remove all the bolts that little pin on the shifter will hold the tranny together.
