Hey guys, might be buying some 16" rims with 50r sidewall tires. I have the stock 15" turbines with 60R sidewall tires now. i'm not sure what i have to do to recalibrate the speedometer, or if i'll even see a difference... up/down a tooth on the speedo gear etc.... I have an 89 GT so i don't think it's the computer controled speedo liek the 95's etc... Any help would be great!

shouldnt make a difference. I went from 15 to 17 and never calibrated. If you get the right size tire the diameter difference is so small you will never notice a difference in your speedometer.

Here is a tire size calculator. Of course, all brands differ slightly in the actual sizes, but this will give you an idea.

Wheel size dont matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you could have a 24" rim and still have the right calibration as long as the tire height is the same or with in a few %

hey thanx for the tire calc page. it looks like as long as i stay with the 50R and 16" rim i'll be fine, but if I put the 60R on the 16"rim it'll be off by about 5mph. which to me is enough to recal.. thx though thats waht i was lookin for!!

Stock mustang tire size on the 16" wheel is 225/55/16's. A lot of people put 245/50/16's on and it is pretty close
