well I had to change my clutch cable because my old one broke and when I got done changing it out the speedo was not wrkin....I checked the plug on the side of the transmission that is supposed to tell the speed but it was on good and I cannot figure out what I could have done that would make it stop wrking so any help you guys could give would be great. thanks, Ira

96greenGT:

The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) generates AC voltage (it's true) so you can hook up your voltmeter to it and check that it is generating 'something' when you spin it. The Haynes manual ($18 at AutoZone and elsehwere) has a write-up on it. VSSs have been known to fail and it might just be coincidental with the clutch work.

You didn't pinch the wiring harness, did you? That could be another reason. Follow the harness from the VSS and confirm there is no pinch point.

HTH,
