the output shaft speed sensor is located on the back of the tranny.

BTW. this time I feel he is right, but DO NOT TAKE A AUTOZONE DIAG AND GO BUY STUFF they are not qualified techs and codes do not tell the whole story.

Replace it. If you'll look back on a thread I made a few weeks ago, I had the same problem (minus the odo not working).

It cost $18 I believe from the part store and they had it in stock

Was on the drive side on the transmission.. pulled right out and popped right back in

I said that he should replace it because in this case I think the autozone guy is right. but many times I have had to rediag cars for customers that had codes scaned by autozone type guys and they tell the customer what it might be and they are wrong a lot. So I give a generic warnin to everybody that scans there codes with them.

Just trust me on this I have been a EEC specailist for a long time. Get the codes from them and don't listen to what they think is wrong. bring your codes and symtoms on here or to a trusted mechanic.

You were the one which suggested the VSS on my car before I even got the code ran

I was just saying that most auto-part stores will have the part in stock

The code said faulty vss and when replaced it's still faulty? Did you clean the plug and make sure it's firmly on there?

Is this an original Cluster that would work in my 1987 Convertible 2.3L? Turn signals work, but not correctly.
