Speedometer ???

i got a 89 notch with a 306 got aftermarket guages fuel/volt/water...etc, but the stock speedometer doesnt work, i replaced the speedo cable and still doesnt work, can anyone help me out, was thinking i need a whole new guage cluster? trans is new and the speed sensor looks new

Did you make sure to take the time to line up the cable where it plugs into the actual speedometer? It takes a few tries and must be pushed on all the way until it clicks with the correct alignment or it won't register speed. At least on mine it was this way. Check it if you aren't sure. Had to repull my gauge cluster to push mine on all the way as it had worked loose again when pushing it up into place.
