Both the Speedometer and Odometer quit.

I replaced the VSS.... still dead as a hammer. Any Ideas???

I am looking into possibly being the SpeedCal but I did not think that they had a fuse on the box or not.

and before someone comments on search features, that is what I have been doing for the last week.

Well I got the problem resolved. 3 friggin weeks of troubleshooting
checked every fuse in the car......... all good
checked voltage on VSS / Speedcal....... both good.
not convinced, replaced VSS.............. no change.
disconnected Speedcal...................... no change.
cussed, kicked tools all over garage..... wife shakes head and mumbles idiot.

At this point I was going to check wires with my meter. so I disconnected the battery and it was disconnected for about 20 mins. Well before I could check the wires, I had to move the car. well the speedo works now.

I should have know since I am a computer guy, when in doubt reboot. I guess the ECU just reset itself and started working... I don't friggin care ass long as I don't have to spend anymore time or money on the issue.

Did your trip meter quit too? My speedo, odo., and trip just stopped working last Sunday, but I haven't had time to mess with it. I might just try disconnecting the battery later.

Thats exactly what mine was doing.

The best we can figure out, the has been sitting in the garage for a while. I start it and drive it around about once a month when it is stored. Well I did not get to do that much this winter and I know the battery died. So I think that the 2 are related. Works for me..

That's pretty much the same case here. It had been sitting for a about three months and I've only had it going again for about a month or so when this happened. While sitting, the battery died and will no longer hold a charge. That Sunday, I managed to get the car started with barely enough charge to pull it off. I may have blown the fuse or otherwise fritzed it out. I still haven't had a chance to check it out, though.
