alright guys.... i have some $$$$ to work with i wanted to dump like $500 in to the stang... right now im thinking headlights.... catback... and gears.... or just buying a low milage gt40p Explorer motor.... what do you guys think... are slightly used low milage gears ok to use.... i can get a decent set of 3.73's for $75 .... i can pick up an american thunder catback for $275 shipped.... and headlights will prolly run me like $100... what do you guys think...??? the only thing i have waiting to be put on is my explorer manifold... so i could use whats left over to buy my gasket set....

whatever you do, make sure it is something that will make you like to drive the car more. by that, i mean if there is something that annoys you every time you drive it, then address that first.

for me, it is the top that comes down too far so it catches when i close the door, rattling when i go over bumps at slow speeds, loose steering, and the radio that doesn't get any fm stations.

how do you fix the door/top problem... i have the same thing... lol

i'm going to take it to the guy who does upholstery and tops and ask him what he can do. i hope i don't need to get a new top. he is also going to re-do the leather on my seats.

but if i don't make my car a pleasure to drive again, i have no reason to have it. it sucks when you don't want to get in your car because of all the little things that make it annoying.

mine actually is catching on the a piller's seal/trim... im just gonna tap it back a little i think its falling out... the only complaint i have about my car is... its not as fast as it looks and i need more HP!.... good news made $104 in tips tonight at work... lol

i would do the headlights and catback. The headlights will make a huge difference with appearance and u'll love the sound of an aftermarket catback. I'm waiting on getting gears until i actually figure out if im gonna stay naturally aspirated or not.

Adam -

From what everyone says on the site... do the gears & exhaust. Even with your 206K (207K?) you will notice a fun difference it seems.

But the convert top sucks to ride with up sometimes. Mine rattles and squeaks with all the lovely roads in the greater northeast.

I think save your money on the headlights. They are a real safety issue, so do some investigation b4 dumping money into questionable-quality ones. I know there are/have been some horror stories on the board about sh!!ty headlights from eBay.

+1 for gears and exhaust.

Reality check: gears alone will blow your budget. Unless you plan to install them yourself, and have access to all the tools you will need already. Even then, you need to budget in about $120 for new bearings, shims and oil. Plus while you are in there you really should do the trac-loc.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but gears cost quite a bit more than the part alone.

That said, I think they are the single biggest bang for the buck you can get for a stock Mustang. Other than that, I'd do the cat-back and get a better shifter.

I ordered gears, install kit, and a trac lock rebuild and it cost $330 shopped. Then like another $25 for the oil. He woulld have $like $150 left over. So if he threw in like $50 more then he MIGHT be able to get them put in.

lol about headlight, i forgot about this untill someone mention cheap quality but my buddies 94 had some clear (cheap) headlight dont know brand name...and we were like an hour from his house and the headlight melted the damn headlight housing!!!!! the other one made it home though....so cheap headlight housings and brighter bulbs didn't go well in his stang

and gears are more expensive then the gears themselves i had to replace everything because my stuff was pretty worn in..bearings, trac loc rebuild kit, gear oil royal purple:nice: ,and i got a t a performance cover its really nice.
