To skip all the mumbo jumbo, go to where it says, "cut to the chase..."

I recieved a set of spindles with a disc brake conversion kit hat I bought for my cougar. The guy told me they were '69 spindles. I went ahead and bought all my brake stuff for a '69; rotors, calipers, bearings, seals, etc... Well the bearings wouldn't go on, so I was like, "Now what??". So I went and got new bearings thinking I bought the wrong ones. Those didn't fit either.

Then I went back to the parts store with the old junk bearings that came with the conversion kit. Turns out the bearings that fit are for a '70 mustang. So I brought those home, greased them up and tried to assemble the bearings and rotor. The spindle was too short.

CUT TO THE CHASE...

Is the spindle on a '70 shorter than a '69? Thanks!!

Nope....it isn't shorter....the shaft is larger for increased safety, hence the bearing not interchanging. You have better spindles so rejoice!!!

I read something about smaller/larger bearings on a '69 spindle. Does that mean that the larger bearing '69 spindle is the same as the '70 spindle?

I've never heard of the larger bearing '69 spindle.....if it exists it is just the '70 spindle being used before the '69 modle run was up.

I just found it, it was in the mustangs plus catalog. It does show the same part number for the rotor, so the new rotors I ordered should work fine.

I'm glad it is stronger, but It kinda sux that I have to sell the other rotors and I don't know how much I can get. They are $95 new from AutoZone. Will probably put them on ebay.

Why can't you take them back and tell them you got the wrong ones? You still have the reciept right?

Well, I've had them for a long time. I'm not sure where the reciept is. Also, they were "special order" and they don't take returns on "special order" items.

I looked for a part number on my spindles...guess what...D0**. I could remember the last to numbers, it might have been D0AZ, but anyway D0=70 so that solves that mystery.

On a good note. I got my '70 rotors today and put one on the car along with an empty caliper to see if my 14" torq thrust would fit. Wasn't I suprised...so far the only thing that has gone right...THEY FIT!!!
