I wish I had gotten the "spoiler delete" option so it would be easier to get a ducktail. I don't like the look of no spoiler, but at the time I didn't realize how much better the ducktail looks.
I prefer the spoiler. I have owned a 1965 and a 1966 fastback. I don't think deleting the spoiler makes the car look more like one of the originals. The shape of the rear is much different and the trunk is shorter on the original.
Although I've never owned a 65 or 66 fastback.. The trunk area on the current S-197 Mustang seems to look shorter than the original 65-66 at least from an appearance point of view IMHO...
Personally, I prefer the factory spoiler over the delete option with the exception that it's a royal pain in the butt when washing, drying and waxing thanks to lack of clearance space between the bottom of the spoiler and trunk lid...
Some people might not like racing stripes (hint, hint)
I do not like spoilers. The form does not follow the
function and vice versa (unless your going 170). It
disrupts the body lines and looks "tack on".
The GT500 wing looks better fit to the cars contours.
I slapped the spoiler back on because, of course, I have holes on the trunk. I'm going to get a GT500 spoiler without question but I thought about rolling without the spoiler for a bit. There is actually a thread on a forum I've seen where a guy walks through how to cover up the holes really well with some supplies from Home Depot or something. I think I'll just wait till I get the replacement before I take it off. It looked slick though. Thanks for the comments!

When drying spoiler area, work a bath towel underneath and hold both ends. Wipe one way pulling up on the towel and the other way pushing down. Ditto with the sides.
As for spoiler or no spoiler, our cars develop "personalities" as we mod them so it depends on the car. I'm keeping mine because I don't want to fill holes.
313's setup is awesome with the blackouts and the rims. Are they TSWs and what size?
Being that you've owned both 65 and 66 fastbacks, I'll take your word concerning the trunk being shorter than the current S-197 Mustang although for some reason It still seems to me that the rear end/trunk area on our S-197 Stangs appear to look shorter at least from a side profile standpoint but then again, I sometimes forget about the S-197 not only being larger in overall size ? but is also longer than the original 65-66 Mustangs as well..
