SPOUT hot pluggable?

This may be a stupid question, but I was wondering if it was ok to unplug the SPOUT while the engine is running, adjust the timing, then plug it back in? Or do I need to shut off the engine before unplugging and plugging back in?

i hope it is ok because that is what i did. no problems and the car runs better now that it is on 10 instead of 8.

I prefer to shut it off myself. It really probably does not matter.

I just always unplugged it while the motor was running.
