after adding heads and cams and other mods, do we need to run the car with the spout removed or we set timing and keep it on.

Never run the car with the spout connector removed. When its removed, the car is just running off of the base timing and will not advance any.

Give it a shot. I generally don't use the spout in my cars and have very good luck without it. My 95GT never used the spout and ran very well and even idled better than with the spout with H/C/I.

I would set the base timing and leave the spout in for driving on the street, that way the computer can adjust the timing as it needs it. This turns allows you to use the computer to adjust the timing and it will help out on gas mileage. Now at the track I would try taking the spout out and setting the timing about 36deg and leave it out. I have not tried this with the new motor but doing just that was the difference from a 8.13@84.2 to a 8.05@85.1 in the 1/8th mile. That was the only thing I changed from the previous run and everything else was dead on and I even ran in the same lane. So it's good for about a tenth and 1mph in just the 1/8th and could be worth more in the 1/4 mile. Hopefully I can get it back to the track and further test this theory with the new motor.

I have not ran the spout connector in years. I have timing set around 34-36 degrees runs much better and dynoed a little better. I have no problems as long as you run 93 octane or better. Go to my website for a list of things I have done to the car. http://hometown.aol.com/Five0Tony/myhomepage/index.html

So are you guys taking the spout connector OUT and then setting your timing to 34-36 base timing by what is on the harmonic balancer? And this doesn't "jack" anything up? Interesting....no CE Light either?

Yep, that's what we are doing. Not only does it not "jack" anything up but my cars generally idle better too.
