spring compressor

me again i got my front a arm bolts out thanks too all for you help. i borrowed the tool from my boss he uses it on his comet but i tried and can get it to work sooo i need to buy one correct me please if i am wrong and if i want how you did you compress the spring? i believe i need one that will slide in and out of the small hole in the a arm? but my question what kind like name brand and do you guys have any links with pictures of what tool you have or have used so i have an idea of which one i need. there is a couple different kinds from what i have seen in stores and i dont want to get the wrong one. thanks again for you help.

advanced auto parts has this kit that has like 3 different types of compressors i nit and its a loan a tool too. try it.

I guess I'm confused.
If you have the FLCA bolts out, you're halfway done with the MFE method, in which no compressor is used.

i am putting the stock springs back in so i do need a compressor correct have any of you used the two piece external one??

I didnt need a compressor for stock vert springs with the MFE method (in which you remove the FLCA-to-K member bolts and let the pivot now be the strut and knuckle). This makes suck a large radius pivot that you dont have NEAR the concerns you do when pivoting on those FLCA-to-K bolts.

and then you used a jack on the lower control arm to compress the spring and jack the lower arm into place???

Yep. You do have to be careful because you HAVE to use a large jack for this and be cognizant of the jack wanting to roll away once you start compressing the spring (some folks put the jack on a large piece of wood so the jack's wheels are off the ground).

Anyhow, I'd do a quick search for the articles on doing this (there are a couple).
