Spring install on good friday - compressor recomindatins?

Hey guys - im installing ebiach springs on my coupe to replace the stock 4banger ones.

I know the rear are a piece of cake, BUT what kind of spring compressors to you guys recommend for the front? i was just going to lower the a-arm to get them out but i dont want to beat the new ones to get them in. thanks for suggestions!!!

You should be able to rent a spring compressor from an Auto Parts store to help put them in. Sears sells a set as well for around $40 too.

I didn't even use one when i did mine, just put a jack under the spring saddle and lower it down slowly while a buddy holds the spring in place with a crow bar.

Mine didn't fly out nor did i have to beat on it......may even want to use a c-clamp or something to keep them compressed when you lower the arm down out of the way.

i just wanted to know what kinds of compressors you guys use to put them back in. I think i could just lower the arm and pull it out with no problem im more worried about getting them back in. there are all kinds of compressors thats why i was asking. i have a compressor that i used to get springs off a strut, but that wont work there isnt enough room for them under there since they are on the outside of the spring

Good friday instal? I would call it a black Friday instal. Replacing the front suspention was the biggest pain In the you know what. Just be aware that it is not going to be a piece of cake. unless you have a lift, then it may be easier I used the type of compressor that clamps on the outside of the spring. There are two separate clamps and they go on either side of the spring. This seemed to work fairly well. I tried the type that goes inside the spring but that did not work for me.

Also, when you do this make sure you tie the spring in with a rope or chain when you lower the control arm down because the spring will probably pop out a bit. If you would like any more pointers on the process let me know. I just re-did everything with the suspention last summer. Good luck with the instal!

You should get the spring compressor that goes up through the middle of the spring with the hooks that rotate. It take a little bit to figure out but just take your time. You can rent them as someone mentioned.

It only takes one time for the spring to fly out and hit something or someone.
