Is it a PITA to remove spring isolators. I currently installed h&r ss springs about 6 months ago on 99-01 17 inch cobras. After they settled I would like them to just be a tad lower.

No, all you need some "stiff knees" to put the car up and two hydraulic jacks. The spring compressor; that the guides reccomend, looks dangerous to me, just raise the jack to compress the spring, then lower the jack SlOWLY when you unbolt the attachments.

I took my isolators out when i put in my c-springs. I bought 3 rools of the all weather 3M electrical tape and wrapped the springs with a few thick layers to avoid possible squeak.

If you installed springs about 6 months ago, wouldn't you know whether removing the isolators is a PITA or not?

EASY!

1. jack up car
2. put jack stands under car
3. take off wheel
4. unbolt caliper
5. unbolt swaybar endlink
6. place jack under control arm
7. unbolt shock from spindle (leave top bolted in)
8. lower control arm with jack (slowly)
9. lowering spring will easily slide(yes slide) out since its a smaller size than stock
10. take off isos and replace with electical tape
11. place spring back in place do the opposite of what you just did

that is how i did mine took me a very very short time to do and i was even taking my time and i recleaned the springs and other small areas under there as well....i think it took me 45 mins per side with cleaning and the taping of the springs...its hot out there so bring a drink...good luck!

i too swapped over to h&r ss springs. after a couple of months of driving, i decided the front needed to be lower. pulled both the top and bottom isolators on the front springs only. spent $5 on a bicycle inner tube and wrapped all the pigtails. netted me about another 1/2" and no squeaks. now i have the exact slight rake stance i wanted.
