spring length?

does any one know the spring length of the mustangii front coil springs? i'm rebuilding my front end and i will be replacing the front coil springs with some stronger ones but i need to know the length of the stock coil springs because the ones that are coming out are not the stock ones and the car sits to low as it is.

you dont need a spring length, you need a spring weight.
the fox body springs fit but come in different weights for different engine combos.

These are the specs for the "heavy duty" spring available for the MII:

INSIDE DIA.= 3.5 in.; BAR DIA.= 0.59 in.; FREE HEIGHT= 13.81 in.; SPRING RATE= 364 Lbs./In.; LOAD= 1561 Lbs.; LOAD HEIGHT= 9.5 in.; END 1= SQUARE; END 2= TANGENTIAL

...and the specs for the standard spring:

INSIDE DIA.= 3.51 in.; BAR DIA.= 0.58 in.; FREE HEIGHT= 13.94 in.; SPRING RATE= 317 Lbs./In.; LOAD= 1400 Lbs.; LOAD HEIGHT= 9.5 in.; END 1= SQUARE; END 2= TANGENTIAL

The heavy duty spring is Moog 8556 or TRW CS8556. The standard spring is Moog 8582 or TRW CS8582.

since i belong to the SCCA i do like to road course race and my hopes are to set up my mustangii to do some solo 2 racing, which is racing around cones and being timed while doing it. all of the drives are timed and of course the fastest one wins.being that the wheel base is so short on a mustangii it should do well. this weekend i will be finishing up putting together my new front end. new bushings, ball joints,rack n pinion,calipers, brake lines and new front springs rated at 800 lbs. with the weight of the v8 the 800's should do the job.

800 lb/in springs on the front? Why don't you weld a solid bar in where the springs go - the ride will be the same.

as i stated earlier i plan on using the car in SOLO 2 events. in racing conditions the 800 lber's are really on the soft side for a v8 car. i drive a 1987 in the SCCA and in that car i use 900 lb front springs, in racing the car feels just right, and that car is a 4cyl.

Yes, I saw that too. I was thinking that the car would probably see dual duty on the street and track since Solo II was mentioned. I just think anything over 600-650 lb/in spring rate is going to be a rough ride on the street. I'll be interested in hearing how they work out.

well got it all done yesterday. took it out to have the front end aligned then came back home and put on the 235/60-14 tires and 14x7 rims on the front then took it out for another test drive. conclusion, wow what a difference handles GREAT. yes the front is on the firm side but when put into turns hard very very stable and now the car handles like it should

the back spacing is 3.75" i bought them from summitracing and they are made by us wheel.
