Hey!

I don't believe I'm doing this, but I think I'm converting over from my decision of a KB 9# kit in the future to a SQ or an S-Trim tuned by MPH.

Now my question is what is the difference between the SQ and the S-Trim? MPH offers their Mongoose kit with either the SQ or the S-Trim. Whats the diff?

The SQ is quieter, I believe it has helical cut gears to reduce the whine. I think the output is the same.

The S-trim is a lot louder. I actually started w/ one and just bought an SQ because the whistle was annoying.

What kinda #s you running? Also, how quiet is the SQ-Trim? Is it sleeper quiet? Or does it still whine. I need to find some videos of guys with S-Trims and SQ trims...

loud blowers belong on race cars, there is no reason to have excessive whine if you dont have to

the sq trim still whines, but I would refer to it as "sleeper quiet": like you said. It sounds too noisy to be a loud altenator, but quiet enough to go unnoticed by the common public.

My numbers w/ the S-trim were around 370/375. I'm trying to get out to MPH this weekend to have the car dyno'd again. The cold weather should help a lot.

IMO, the SQ is a bit of a sleeper. You really can't hear it unless you're listening for it at idle. Under normal driving, you can't hear it at all.

There's some video over on MPH's site of each blower, so that may help w/ your decision.

If you want really quiet go with Powerdyne. By what I hear, they dont have the output that you would get with the Vortech but it will be quiet. SQ or S-trim. I would do the SQ.

I think I'm going to go S-Trim due to the fact that I want to actually hear my blower whine (god that sounds so perverted...).

However, here is a good questions. How difficult is it to swap from a S-Trim to a SQ-trim? Just swap the head?
