Hey guys. There is a squeak in my car that occurs when i drive it slowly down a road, but it squeaks excessively in turns and when going over bumpy roads. I have narrowed it down to the rear of the car. When i go over speed bumps the front doesnt make a noise. Anybody had this problem? Maybe shocks? Control Arm Bushings?

Thanks

I'm having the exact same problem. :(

I have a 99 with over 40,000 miles.

Ok everybody...we need to get someones help on this to see if we can cure it. My car has been doing it for over a year and It drives me crazy. I have had the dealership look at it several times. It happens during driving and over bumps. A cricket sound is the perfect way to describe it. Its not the e-brake cables because they have been "fixed" twice. I don't know else it could be. Could be the control arm bushings. It only really happens when there is sudden movement of the rear end. It does happen when it moves slowly but not hardly as often. Please.....lets all get together and start this thread to find out what our problem is. Mine is an '02 with 36000 miles on it.

when i had that problem it turned out to be the e-brake cable rubbing against the rear diff.. evidently they become loose and cause the squeaking... might be the problem in this case.

that thread over at corral talks about the speaker weld in the trunk...i have a vert. so that nixes that whole theory immediatly. wonderful. and yeah it is an external sound casue when i rolled my windows down it gets much much louder. damn crickets in my trunk! The real problem here is finding out exactly where the noise is coming from because i can't recreate it without driving the car.

Does it happen while braking? The squeak on my car went away while braking. I would drive down a road over bumps and it would squeak. Then I would go down the same road with some light brake pressure, and no squeak. I think it's something with the rear calipers.

I'm in the same boat...seems like the noise is only when the brakes are not applied. My local dealership looked at the problem last year and had to resurface the rear rotors and the noise went away for about a day and then it was back. They said it was very oddly worn though...so who knows. I'm contemplating getting new rotors and just putting them on myself to see if that helps.

Mine squeaks too, sooo annoying. Rear windows squeal when I put them up, anyone know how to fix this short of setting fire to it?

hey man besides the rear of the car squeak i also have the rear window squeak it's normal for the verts to do that according to Ford. it's just a bad design. try some lube on the rubber weather stripping on the rear quarter window.

Thanks dude, I have silicone lubricant somewhere, I'll try that.
