never had any problems, sprayed coils etc. just kept it away from air filter and used hot water to rinse. cold water on a hot engine block didn't seem like a good idea. remember, when your going down the street and its raining, water is flying into engine bay. I used just enough to thoroughly rinse, didn't have hose pouring on it.
the stuff coming off rubber parts feels like a plastic film and i could peel sections of it off

I think once you spray it with a protectant it might beome a dirt magnet. Looks good at first but then becomes a bitch. Kinda like picking up a chick when you are drunk.
Will look good for a show but then I would wash that crap off afterwards.

I wonder what that film you are peeling off is supposed to protect the parts from.
I just wonder what the film is. Maybe it is just grime and wax buildup. The plastic underneath it looks alot better where it's coming off. Anyway, how do you guys clean your engine bays? I don't think mine has ever been cleaned other than my attempt.

I just use simple green and some rags. I dont bother spraying it b/c I dont want to get anything wet that shouldent have water in/around it.
Some guy in the thread i posted did this and some time later had splotches on aluminum pieces so i think rinsing would be a good idea, but yea, becareful where you rinse.
I'm beginning to think the film is just buildup cause i gave it another dose today and more is coming off and easier. Kinda like dandruff.

I wouldn't let that stuff set for long. I would liberally use the water to make sure you rinsed off all the simple green. Even rinse the stuff you don't think the SG got on because you don't want any damage later. Then try to dry everthing you can with a rag to avoid water spots.

I hate when the old lady is on the rag!!
