looks good. you've been busy. Is it a PIA to get the driver's side head off with the head studs? Heard it was a pain because the brake booster is right there.

I've been busy here but doing different stuff. I spent last weekend and today putting a floating floor style vinyl tile in the bathroom.

Yeah its a major PITA bryan. It sucked more then I can tell you. All the studs clear the head except for the top stud on the #8 cylinder and as you pull up it hits the brake booster. I had to lift the head up as far as I could and pivot the front of the head around to give the back of the head more room to tilt down and clear the stud. It took awhile but I got it off. When it all goes back together Im doing the drivers side everything first b/c thats where most of my issues came from. Once that side is all done..head..exhaust..the rest will be easy.

Sold the AFR's for $850 and the Magnapack mufflers and flowtubes for $110

well it seems like things are going pretty smooth. You plan on getting it back together and driving it around this fall?
Since it was so nice I took the bike out for a ride today. Saw a lot of bikes on the road while I was riding around in the country.

yeah no sense rushing it.
Seeing a broker on saturday to list our house for sale. Time to move out and find a bigger and better place.

looks good. Now smear some anti-seize on something and you are guaranteed a win at the Windham show.

haha yeah no kidding.

I'm now deciding if I want to do a different set of pistons to increase the compression. I know I want to stay NA and this would be the best time to do it more so then any other. I'm looking into the cost of pistons that I would need and the cost of having the machine work done to hone the bores and have the pistons installed. So it will pretty much come down to price. If its worth it for me I'll go ahead and see what I can do about getting the engine pulled out.

there might not be much need for machine work if the bores are in good shape. A 'bottle brush' hone might be all that is needed if the bores are ok. Can you feel a ridge inside the bores?
My bores felt ok to me and the compression was good on all but one cylinder. I'm betting that I would just have to re-ring that piston and do the bottle brush hone to it and it would be ok. Just don't have the time or energy to do it now. Yesterday the real estate broker came over to do the paperwork to list our house for sale. If it doesn't sell quick we may be stuck here all winter. Would love to get a new house while the interest rates are so incredibly low.

hopefully it does go quick. If I can get the block done for the right price I know I can get pistons for $300-$400

if it sells quick we will have to scramble to find not only a place to rent for a while but storage for the car, bike, riding mower, my tools and all sorts of other stuff we won't need for a while hopefully.
Looking at places online right now. Saw two houses a few minutes from here that each have garage space for 4 cars. Who know what will happen. I just want something nicer than what we have now and with a bit more privacy.

We just did a refinance on the house for 4.6%, saved us over $150 a month, and $55,000 overall.
