Yeah I'm new to the new forums. I was around back in the day before the forums crashed though. I came across this claim, on a Cobalt SS forum, and wanted to see what the mustang guys have to say, because I think it's BS, but am not familiar enough with the new mustang to know for sure.

Uh did they just say that "The Fords just don't have the quality Chevrolets do". Dilusional Chevy people as always! Chevy cobalt and the word quality don't go together.

What is it about BowTie guys hating Ford? I prefer Ford over Chevy but hell they make some pretty good vehicles. The Vette, Some of there SUV's. I just want Ford, Chevy, and Chrysler to band together and kick the snot of imports!!!

Half their cars are daewoo made anyways, just don't mention that to them, lol.

I don't know if anyone pointed out that their cobalt SS is a cavalier with a new name because the old one had such a bad rep it had to go.

I will give the Cavy/Sunfire some credit, they're cheap cars to buy and they seem to stick around a long while. They ride/drive like crap and build quality sucks but hey, their owners seem to drive them like they're Formula F1 cars so what do I know?

BTW. The Cobalt is actually an extremely well made vehicle. The first time in a long time that GM has gotten something right.

Build quality does NOT suck, and the SS I rode in rides better than the Mustang GT I test drove.

If you're going to diss a car, at least be accurate. You're just spouting rhetoric that you heard from some other tard who didn't know what they were talking about.

P.S. As for the video, I doubt it's accuracy, but it should get your attention. The Cobalt SS/SC is already reaching 280HP with very few modifications, and it weighs 600 pounds less than the Mustang GT. Stock for Stock, the GT will edge it out, but not by as much as some of you would like to believe. And that's coming from a car that retails for far less.

Where are you getting 280HP from? I just went to chevrolet.com and the Cobalt SS supercharger is listed as 205HP. It may be well made and you may in your opinion feel it rode better but some modes had to be done to get those HP numbers you pushing.

Dude, the cars are ****e. it doesn't take much to see that. I'm not spouting rhetoric, I have a few friends who have had cavy's and have seen many different cobalts running around and while they are built better than the outgoing twins, they certainly aren't all that **** hot.

Last time I checked driving a Mustang wasn't necessarily about driving the fastest thing on the road...

Yeah but you're still driving a Cobalt. It's like the SRT-4. Yeah it's damn fast, but it's still a freaking Neon! If I wanted to go fast cheaply I'd go find my 81 Mustang T-Top Coupe and drop 6k into the engine. That way I'd have a 400HP car that cost 7,000!

I dont know if anyone else watched the video, but they were not racing. In the first run that Corolla or whatever is "keeping up". In the 3rd run you see other cars pass them but the 2 "racers" never catch up. Look at the ground moving by, they arent moving very fast. It seems to me the Cobalt wanted to go but the Cobra driver said no.

DUDE!

Is it even right for you to have the screen name "american muscle" and still talk this car up? I mean seriously, or are you stickin up for a friend who is a closet chevy owner that doesn't want to "come out"?

To the non-attentative eye it would appear the cobalt pulling away from the cobra. But, in reality....
1. watch all the runs and look at the cars in the far lane. Are they racing to?? Because they are sure not dissapearing as fast as those with mustangs know they can dissapear and be passed.
2. The second run is the Mustang toying with the cobalt...almost like c'mon lil' puppy you can do it. Slowing down bit and then saying don't give up. Watch the brake lights for one, and if he was really getting on it in the cobra you know he would have dissapeared with a continuous squat.
3. I think the video is BS as well ...but everyone is entitled to their opinions and maybe I am a lil harsh with the puppy talk.
I say this because my friend in NC bought the SS Cobalt. I did not think it was that bad looking of a car and it's nice, but the Cobalt gave me a "ricey" vibe (sorry if this offends Cobalt owners, but its just for me). It WAS a comfortable ride. But please DO NOT COMPARE THE PERFORMANCE TO THE MUSTANG V/6, THE MUSTANG GT, LET ALONE THE COBRA. Because I know, from experience, there is a huge difference!!!
4. The comparison should lie with the SS Cobalt and the Mustang V/6 in that department for price/performance comparibility.

Then throw a supercharger on our cars and see the difference. We win by even more.

Supercharged 4.6L @500HP > Supercharged 2.0L @205HP

That's just not fair to the little guy.

With just a few bolt-ons, the 05 V6 Mustang will keep up or beat the supercharged Cobalt and look far better gettin' there. I don't see any comparison at all to the GT.
