I want to give my auto a little more pep so I started looking into torque converters. I'm definitely gonna go with Precision Industries but I'm unsure what stall speed to get...I still want the car to be streetable. Any input?

If you read message boards, you'll hear 3000-3200. I emailed an actual vendor and he recommended 2800-3000 for my almost stock GT.

Are you going with single or multi disc?

I have 2800 RPM and it's great. Anything in the 2600-3200 range is very streetable.

I agree with the above comment that 2600-3200 is streetable. My wifes car has the PI with a 3000 stall and it is great to drive on the street and the track. We are thinking of bumping the stall up a bit to around 3400-3500.

Are you going with single or multi disc? That seems to be a really hot topic on other message boards.

Good question...I think I'm gonna go 2800 or 3000...would the single suit me just fine for a mostly daily driver (it will see track time from time to time but not like every weekend)

Like I said, the debates are heated. I'm actually thinking of a single disc. I don't plan on getting a blower or turbo anytime soon so I doubt I'll see 400+ rwhp. There are a lot of single disc users that are happy with it. There are some that say the single disc ones didn't hold up and they now have multi disc converters. I'm thinking it's like the stock axles. Some break them with 230 rwhp. Some are in the 300's still with the stock axles. I don't know. A multi disc will run you a thousand bucks, plus installation. Single disc ones are like $750 or less.

Hey Propellerhead, I believe I saw a post where you indicated you installed 4:10 gears. Since I also have an auto, I'm curious as to how you like them? If you could elaborate on the pros / cons.... I'd really appreciate it. By the way, your write up on your car domain site regarding the Diablosport predator was very informative. I'm currently waiting for a custom tune from RWTD & I used your comments about the revised shifting patterns to help specify what I was looking for.

I love my 4.10s. I went from being stuck at 9.2-9.4 at the 1/8 mile to 8.9-9.0. There are tons of threads on here about gears. Start with those. One of these days, I'll update my Cardomain thing. Right now, I just have a short paragraph on them. The 4.10s did affect the modified part throttle shift schedule a bit. It seems to shift a little early.

However, this is really a thread about a stall converter.
